We met Brent Michael Davids through another project we were working on. Milt was producing a few of the musicians who had been chosen to compose a piece for a project called Continental Harmony. We went to meet Brent in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He was living on the third floor of one of those grand old houses.

Brent is both musician and composer. He tells this amazing story of how he created a flute from crystal, and has since created several others. They are clear and beautiful and we were stunned by this unusual instrument.

Later, we had the opportunity to travel to the edge of the Grand Canyon and watch Brent perform with the native people who are considered the "guardians of the canyon". What an event--to hear his music in that beautiful place with the native dancers and singers.

Like several other Oyate artists of the second series, we consider Brent's work contemporary or transitional. He blends native sounds with opera and orchestra. The effect is mesmerizing.
